Advent
WALT: know the rites and rituals of Advent.
1st Candle =
The Prophecy or Hope candle.
The first candle is the colour purple and it represents that Jesus’ coming was told hundreds of years before Jesus was born. The colour purple also means the royalty of Christ King of Kings.
2nd Candle =
The Bethlehem or Preparation candle.
The second candle is also purple and it represents that Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
3rd Candle =
The shepherds candle or the candle of joy.
The 3rd candle is the only one that is pink and it represents the shepherds candle because the angels told the shepherd the good news of Jesus’ birth. It is also the candle of joy because it was a joyful time when Christ was born.
4th Candle =
The angel candle or the candle of Love.
The angels announced the news of a new king born in a manger so they were recognized with the 4th candle. It is also the candle of love because God loved us so much that he gave his only son to die on the cross and forgive our sins.
Sports drinks bad for children - Kiwi Kids News
Are you a person who takes sports drinks on Saturday Sports ? At Otago University researchers found out that many drinks that kids take for Saturday sports are filled with sugar. Most children in their survey said that they drink the drinks because of the advertisements where they say it will only give you more energy to play sport and run. Dr Smith says children who play 90 min in Saturday mornings don’t need sports drinks to give them energy and re - hydrate them. He says that water will give you more energy than sports drinks. Some sports drinks are : powerade, gatorade, staminade sport, vitaminwater, propel, lucozade, all sport, mizone, Accelerade, relive energize, isostar, fuze, FRS, rebound Fx, pocari sweat, cytomax, G2, Innergize, monster, oshee, aquarius, coco5, 100PLUS, mystic and Smart c+. But, if you estimate the amount of sugar in each one, you wouldn't dare to have 1 drop of it. So have we all decided water is the best sports drink ?

Christmas Symbols
The Holly :
The holly represents the crown of thorns that Jesus wore when he was crucified. Because the edge of the holly is prickly and feels like thorns.
The Star :
The star that we put on top of our christmas tree and think “ this is going to make the christmas tree sparkle like diamonds “ actually represents the big star that God put in the sky so the wise men can find Jesus and worship him.
The Candle :
The candle represents the Lord, Jesus Christ. The saviour and the light of the world. It is told that when we light our candle on Christmas Eve it means we remind ourselves that Jesus is the light of the world.

The angels are symbols of christmas because they’re the ones that told the shepherds the good news that baby Jesus is born and the ones that sang the praise song ( Glory to God in the Highest and on Earth peace to all with good will ). They also told the shepherds where to find the new king so the shepherds would know where to worship Jesus Christ.
The wreath :
The wreath is a symbol of everlasting life because the circle has no beginning and has no end so has our life. After death there are three places to go. Why it’s a christmas symbol is because Jesus is the creator of our life and because it is said in the Bible “ I am the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega and the First and the last.
The Christmas Tree :
Some people say that christmas trees are there for santa to come and put your presents under the tree but, actually we have a christmas tree so it would remind us of the Tree of Life which most christians and catholics believe.

Kingfisher
Facts :
1 : The kingfisher is a not too big bird and a not too small bird. Most of the kingfishers have 3 colours on their bodies. One is sort of dark orange and the rest is blue with white spots.

Christopher Columbus was an Italian sailor. He was very determined to find a water route from Europe to Asia but instead he came to the Americans and he never did. He also made 4 trips across the Atlantic Ocean from Spain : In the years 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502.
